Meanwhile.. half way through 2012.. I think I finally figured out why pole fitness still cannot be accepted mainstream. It goes against all the chauvinist ideologies on how a woman is supposed to behave and act. #misogyny
She is not supposed to be strong. She is not supposed to have muscle tone because then she will be teased for ‘being a man’. Women are not supposed to be confident because society teaches her that she is supposed to be submissive and passive. Pole fit women wear very little clothing (because we stick to the pole better) and women are supposed to be covered up! #sexism
It’s like there something shameful about the female body. It’s like it’s evil to look at because it invites temptation. #rapeculture
To me I see women’s bodies as a work of art. All women are beautiful. When I see a women on a pole, I am not sexually turned on, I am artistically turned on.. meaning that I find it inspirational to watch a women defy gravity with her strength and confidence as she wraps her body and tangles herself on a pole in various yoga-like poses.
