Posted Jun 13 2010 12:44pm

p90x diet If you are tired of all of the on-again, off-again fad diets, yo-yo exercise plans and all of the shakes, gimmicks and “cleanses” that promise to help you shed pounds, you need to look to a better model. The P90X diet and exercise program will have you melting off the pounds and the inches in as little as 90 days.

The P90X at home program combines a nutrition plan with an exercise and workout program. Both the diet and exercise components are each organized into three phases. The three phases of each do not have to be followed in sync with each other. In fact, you will still see incredible results by staggering Phase 1 of the diet plan with Phase 2 of the fitness program, and so forth. Remember, you should never progress to the next phase of either the P90X diet or fitness program until you are ready to do so.

The P90X nutritional program begins with studying the three phases detailed in your P90X Program Guide.

Phase One - Fat Shredder Phase

The Fat Shredder phase does what it advertises – it shreds fat. Through a high protein and low carbohydrate diet, the Fat Shredder phase is a great way to kick start your body’s metabolism to burn fat. But be careful, since you will be drastically reducing your carbohydrate intake, you will have a lot less energy to expend for your workouts

Phase Two -  Energy Booster Phase

The P90X program is rounded out with the Energy Booster Phase, the P90X diet increases your intake of carbohydrates, giving you a higher level of energy to power through your workouts. To keep balance with your calorie intake, the protein in your diet is reduced slightly, but not drastically

Phase ThreeEndurance Maximizer

With Phase Three of the P90X diet, the Endurance Maximizer is designed to sustain an elite performance athlete. Since it increases the number of carbohydrates considerably, it is highly advised not to undertake Phase Three unless you have reached a level of intense and consistent exercise. If you are not working out at a maximum level for five or six days a week, two hours at a time, do not move on to the Endurance Maximizer. Stick with one of the previous phases of the P90X diet.

Every phase contains all of the components necessary to achieve very specific goals. Though you can choose to begin the P90X diet at any phase, based on your specific needs, it is generally recommended to start at Phase One, especially if you are just beginning the P90X program.

Most reviews of P90X note that more than half of the success of the P90X Program is nutrition. Read some P90X Testimonials here or get started with P90X at home .
