If you want to lose weight, burn fat and finally get in shape, you need to find a way to make it fun. Up here in the Great White North of Calgary Canada summer has finally arrived. With this I can finally drag my prowler, sandbag, kettlebells and fat dumbbells (no not me) outside and train in the healing powers of mother nature. Training outside will improve your hormone profiles and mood almost instantly. There is no better way to burn fat and look great then getting outside and busting a real sweat!
Today's outdoor workout was simple and brutally effective for fat loss and conditioning. I don't know how long it took because I don't wear a watch or carry a cell phone, but I do know that I was never bored and stopped when I was finished (when I my body said, OK you are done pal).
Bike to the park as fast as a I can (warm-up)
Hills Sprints paired with push-ups. Sprint up the hill, do 10 push-ups at the bottom. Walk down the hill gasping for air, then repeat as many times as possible. Today was my first hill sprint workout of the season so I only did about 10 sets. This will increase to 20 by the end of the summer. Hills sprints really build leg and ankle power and also burn fat like a mother!
Pull-ups. Once I could not do any more hill sprints, more like hill walks! I walked over to the playground and banged out as many pull-ups as possible. I just did as many reps as I could for as many sets as I could until I started to cramp.
Bike Home as fast as I can. Almost got hit by a truck, have to be careful or I will be blogging from a hospital bed!
Sprint up 7 flights of stairs to my condo. What can I say, the workout ends when I get home and not a moment sooner.
This is what I call a fun workout! Just a guy pushing his body hard. No real concern about sets, reps, time under tension or anything else. Just honest hard work mixed in with some fun and sun. If you want to burn fat you need to make it fun our else you will quit. Making time to train is hard enough and if you don't like what you are doing then forget it!
