In the next couple of weeks, I want to try different recipes with my protein powder to find different ways that I can use it instead of the regular shake but today I do have a shake recipe that you can try after a great workout. It's kind of a knock off of the
Jack In The Box version of their "
Oreo Cookie Ice Cream Shake". Now I got a couple of versions of how you may want to try it (one for a after workout shake and one for just a dessert shake).
First, here is the version that you can make for a post workout
Ingredients:
1 scoop of Vanilla Flavored Protein Powder (I use the Body Fortress Brand)
1 Reduced Fat Oreo Cookie (this can be substituted for a "Sugar Free" Oreo)
1 cup of Almond Breeze Unsweetened Vanilla Milk (you can skim milk or any kind of milk you like - just depends of how high/low you want to calories to be)
4 pieces of cubed ice (you can use more or less)
In a blender, just add all the ingredients and blend to however you like it. When I made it yesterday for after my workout, I didn't add ice because my husband forgot to fill up the ice tray.......0_o........so mine came out pretty thin but I will say that it tasted so good
(Kinda thin because of no ice but tasted so good)
This definitely satisfied my sweet tooth and I got a great protein intake from my shake. Here is the nutritional information on the version that I made yesterday (going in order from left to right: Calories, Carbs, Fat, Protein, Sodium and Sugar)
Again, depending on what products you use, you can make this recipe with more/less calories, carbs, and etc.
Another version you can make is kind of a dessert version. You are using the same ingredients as above but you are just adding a 1/2 cup of fat free Vanilla Ice Cream
