Have you seen the January issue of O magazine? Oprah admits that she now weighs 200 pounds and has "fallen off the wagon" when it comes to healthy living.
"I'm embarrassed," she writes. "I can't believe that after all these years, all the things I know how to do, I'm still talking about my weight. I look at my thinner self and think, `How did I let this happen again?'"
And to top it off, she gained back all the weight even though she had daily access to her now famous personal trainer, Bob Green. How did this happen?
First if you take a look at Bob Green's program it involves cardiovascular exercise, but he advocates power walking, jogging, aerobic dances and stair climbing, not sprints to crank up the metabolism for fat loss.
And then a quick glance at Bob Green's meal plan reveals that her nutritional intake is really high in carbs....

2 tablespoons pecans or other unsalted nut of your choice

half a pear, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon honey
Serve with half cup carrot sticks

Dr. Michael Eades: "
She tries low-fat, stays hungry, and as a consequence binges or at the very least eats a lot of stuff she shouldn’t be eating. She is never going to win the battle against hunger because it can’t be won. Sooner or later, she (and anyone else) will give in to hunger. Fighting it is a losing battle. On a true low-carb diet she a) wouldn’t be as hungry, and b) could eat something filling if she were." According to the article, Oprah has completely given up on the idea of trying to get thin. She says she just wants to be "strong, healthy and fit." What she doesn't realize is that if she switched to a low-carb nutritional approach and did intervals instead of aerobic exercise she wouldn't have to give up the idea of being lean, she could have it all - lean, strong, healthy and fit.
