OK, OK, I am not out of my funk ...

Posted Sep 28 2008 6:44pm

OK, OK, I am not out of my funk yet.  I wish I would keep a diary so that I could look at how I was feeling last year at this time.  I did get up and brush my teeth to get ready to head out to the gym by 5:30am, but the warm bed called me back.  This is a 1st.  I have never gone back to bed again once I am up and getting ready to go to the gym.  Maybe I always get into a funk in the spring?????  There is still snow on the ground and they are predicting another storm tonight.  Ugh!  Not what I need for my attitude.  Plus, my right leg is hurting—shin splint.  Here is some interesting information I found on the internet regarding shin splints from the Mayo Clinic site:

If you have shin splints, you may notice:

·     Tenderness, soreness or pain along the inner part of your lower leg

·     Mild swelling

At first, the pain may stop when you stop running or exercising. Eventually, however, the pain may be continuous.

This is what is going on with me.  The pain is on the inner part of my right lower leg and I do get swelling to the point of creating a bruise.  And the pain varies in intensity from not there, to a very bothersome.  Today it is just a mild constant pain.  If I would take a pain reliever it would probably take care of it, but then I would forget to treat it carefully.  I am not one who likes to take any kind of medicine.  They didn’t really say in the article how long this will last, but it said I should stop exercising.  I should run in water, bike or strength train.  So I think today I will read some of my health and Fitness magazines that I just bought.  I have Shape, Runner’s World, Her’s Muscle and Fitness, etc to read.  That should get me in the workout mood again.  Plus, I decided that today I would finally unpack from the weekend that was canceled due to the storm :)
