Quickly leaving us will be the warm days of summer. I'm a fan of Fall....I think it's perfect weather for outdoor activities. But when the days turn shorter and colder (especially for us in the northeast!), how does your workout change? Do you still exercise outside? How? And how cold is too cold?
Reading My Thoughts. I was just thinking about this this morning. Seasons change and so do we. What do you do to compensate for seasonal changes?
I keep trying to stick with my usual workouts. True, I can't go outside and exercise if I feel like it, especially if it is raining.
Another thing to consider is warming up the body to stretch correctly and workout without injury. In cold weather, it takes me longer to warm up. I dress in my workout clothes in the sauna at the club. This warms me up nicely.
Plus, I dress more warmly than summer time.
I love running in cooler weather.... but it doesn't really get "cool" in the Bay Area until after September, so in my mind, we're just barely progressing into summer!
I love to hike and swim, and although I tend to get cold easily, I find that any sort of exertion that makes me sweat helps to combat that feeling.
When it's rainy and icky outside, I usually do stretches indoors, with maybe an hour or two of yoga.
warm? maybe too hot summer!. i'm glad summer is coming to end b/c i'm sick of 95-105 F when i was used to 90-95F (I'm in Romania, sorry but i can't choose other countries than US in the profile). So i can't wait for cooler days. I hate cold though. 14-20F starts to be too cold for me LOL last year i got cold easily b/c i've already lost a lot of weight. i'm sure the situation will be the same this winter. anyway, i continue to walk outside even if it's too cold!:)
