Nia is a cardio dance exercise but we do have a cool down cycle. In our cool down we might do some stretching and poses. The poses might be similar to some yoga poses. Even though Nia is NOT yoga we might use some of the poses. We DO use some of the ideals of yoga; we move to connect to our body, mind, and spirit; we move to lengthen our posture; we move in mindful motion . . .
So when you are in a Nia class the teacher might use a yoga pose name to help you understand the movement, but we aren't actually practicing yoga, we are practicing Nia. Come to one of my classes and see for yourself.
I have four classes a week (as of 05/08/12 - check my website for current schedule). www.HelpYouWell.com
I have Nia classes:
Monday and Wednesday at 9:00 am in the Willow Glen area of San Jose.
Monday at 6:00 pm in Campbell.
Saturday at 10:00 am on Blossom Hill in San Jose.
Classes are an hour long. We dance, move, and have fun. Sometimes we do a yoga pose. Come see.
