Nia is a cardio dance exercise, but it really is a lot more than that.
We move to music.
There are routines that are created by the creator of Nia and Nia trainers. I learn those routines and then I do them in class. My Nia classes are workout classes. The Nia students come to class, we decide on a focus, I turn on the music and we move/dance. It is not a dance class where there is instrutction. I don't show the class a move, then have them move through it, then move on to the next move . . . my classes are like Zumba, Jazzercise, TurboKick all those . . . . I lead you follow.
The routines ARE such that we do a move over and over so that you have a chance to get it. Also they are not very complicated moves so more often than not when Nia students just "let their bodies dance" they get it. It is when the student thinks too much that the feet get confused.
When people can just move their bodies for health they FEEL better, they FEEL happy.
