My Spin on the SpinGym® – Read The Reviews

Posted Feb 11 2013 12:00am

spin gym review

First I will start by saying doing something is always better than doing nothing. Unlike traditional training with dumbbells and machine weights which isolate and target only one set of muscles at a time.  ® utilizes (GRT).  GRT uses integrated muscle engagement, simultaneously activating major, stabilizing, and core muscles.  SpinGym® claims you get faster results in less time.
A little background, you’ve heard of Pilates, TRX®, and Bowflex®, right? Well, (GRT) is a method of exercise used to stretch and strengthen the muscles and tendons of the body through the use of specialized equipment like the SpinGym®.
It was Romanian born Juliu Hovarth who created the Gyrotonic method and the Gyrotonic Expansion system to repair his own body after damage suffered from years of dancing.  In 1984 he moved to New York to teach his new exercise method and started designing Gyrotronic exercise equipment.  Gyrotonic exercise is designed to stretch, strengthen and elongate the muscles of the body. Advocates of Gyrotonic exercise say it enhances aerobic capacity and promotes neuromuscular rejuvenation. The exercises are low impact and easily used by people of various fitness levels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this product, September 16, 2011

“A simple concept that packs a lot of power. You would never guess that you could really get your heart pumping, sweat, and feel like you have really worked out from a couple of rings and strings. I love this product. It is efficient and powerful. I feel great when I use it. My whole body feels tight (firm) after working out.”

2.0 out of 5 stars False claims & false advertising… BEWARE, July 29, 2012

The claims about this product by the company are not valid. They are not based on facts. You may get a workout with this, but only because you move around and do the DVDs. Just sitting in a chair and doing the movements for 5 minutes a day will not change your body. Now, if you also happen to try to become more fit in general… like you are eating better, cutting out the cookies and ice cream, doing some other activities a bit more, you will see a difference, but it won’t be because of the spingym. Look for reviews from professional with degrees in physiology, biology, etc. Do not listen to only the comments from the company or their paid experts. Resistance does work, I agree. But you can get that with a rubber band at $9 or less. But be careful and know what you are doing… research before you do the exercises. When in doubt… ask your doctor!

Somewhat Disappointing – I’ll see after dvd., March 24, 2012

“I guess I wasn’t being realistic when I purchased this, and, to be fair, I haven’ watched the enclosed video and maybe there is something else to do with it that I am not seeing. From my perspective, it is a weight in the middle with a string and two hoops on the end for your hands. You hold the hoops in your hand, spin a few loops in the string, and alternately pull and release the hoops to spin the weight in circles. Other than watching the device spin, I wonder why a person couldn’t do the same thing with a length of rope by simply pulling on it.

Note: I changed my review to 5 stars until I do watch the DVD so I can be absolutely fair. Then, I will either put in back at 3 stars or leave it at 5 stars and tell you what is different, if anything.”

4.0 out of 5 stars A stress releaser and exerciser in one, October 8, 2012

“Love the Spin Gym. In fact I ordered it over a year ago and used it sparingly. Recently, I picked it back up and kept it in my office drawer. I found myself picking it up and using it while on conference calls. I use to eat during conference calls, but this is so much better. I can feel my arms getting tight and my heart rate increase. I feel relaxed after my chair workout. I will stand also and use it. I have recommended this to my friends ( source for spingym reviews ).”

The reviews I’ve seen are definitely divided.  The SpinGym® just might be a good option for those individuals looking to do a little something to tone.  It would not be enough for me personally; however with that being said, if you’re currently doing nothing… doing something, like a low-impact, muscle toning workout you can take anywhere might not be a bad idea?  Maybe consider getting your own ®?  And ladies, they have a limited edition PINK SpinGym® and also a 30 day money back guarantee, so that is always reassuring when trying a new device.

You had me at PINK… LOL!  Truthfully though, I don’t think this is any different from the “Shake Weight®” gimmick.  In my opinion, I think this device is a shenanigan with a good sales pitch. ;)
