Today I hit the trail at another local park about an hour North of my house. Nestled in the Pine Woods,
Sam Houston National Fores t is an incredible place to experience the beautiful sunrise, and become accustomed to the hills I'll experience on Day Two of my
MS 150 ride in May.
This morning I met with my Fitness team and another team of riders as we took off on the trails of this beautiful park. It was still dark when we arrived, and the quiet beauty of the forest was so peaceful that I felt more like laying on a sleeping big then riding 50 miles up and down hills on a bike. Unfortunately for me I had no sleeping bag, and my fitness buddies are quite persuasive! (Love you guys!)
The second day of the MS 150 is filled with hills, so we're trying to prepare our legs with strength training and with endurance training. I'll start spinning next week to help me build those specialized muscles, and I found a great little foldable rebounder at
Little Spa Rebounders Store Page, that has stronger springs then your normal rebounder. I can really feel the difference in resistance, and I've started doing some basic jumping jacks and plyometric exercises on my rebounder every third day for at least 10 minutes. I also do my stretches on it to help me increase my balance. The rebounder, coupled with my regular workouts and adding in my Bosu ball workouts have really helped me feel like I'll be more prepared for my 150 mile trek to help find a cure of Multiple Sclerosis.
Our ride was incredible, but my legs are a bit shakey. (OK, who am I kidding, my legs are like jello!) Obviously we've come a long way, but we still have a way to go.
