Most people recommend holding a stretch for 10-30 secs. Is there anything wrong with holding a stretch for 2-5+ minutes?

I'm a martial artists and I'm really dedicated to increasing my flexibility, but I seem to be going no where doing the whole 10-30 seconds a day thing. Could it hurt to hold spend more time (2-5+) minutes really relaxing into each stretch?
