Max Effort Squat Workout

  • Squat, working up to a max single
  • Romanian Deadlift 4 x 8-10
  • Hanging Leg Lifts 4 x max reps
Working up to a max single in the squat can take a while and a lot out of you, so I have a hard time doing more than two assistance exercises. Hitting the posterior chain (calves, hammies, glutes, back) and the abs is the key to improving your squat and deadlift.

If you don't have spotters in the squat, use a power rack and set the safety bars just below your squat depth height. That way you go really push yourself and if you miss the weight you'll only hurt your ego!
