LETS HEAR IT FOR PURE COCOA!

Posted Aug 23 2008 10:39pm

I can't believe people are not talking about pure cocoa powder!! This may be my new favorite ingredient in kitchen. You can mix it with anything and it's soooo yummy.

The only thing listed in ingredients is '100% PURE COCOA'.

Here are the facts:

Serving size = 1 TBSP

Fat = .5g

Sodium = 0

Carbs = 3g

Fiber = 1g

Sugars = 0g

Protein = 1g

I just mixed 1/2 tbsp of pure cocoa with 1/2 cup of fage yogurt and 1 packet of stevia. It seriously tastes like chocolate pudding.

The possibilities are endless with this stuff and not only are there not a lot of calories to begin with, you don't need to use a lot of it. Plus there's a gram of protein and a gram of fiber.

A few highlights from this article:

http://www.herbcompanion.com/health/The-medicinal-benefits-of-chocolate.aspx

Benefits include - Immunity, heart health, ulcer prevention, more pep, and the pleasure of eating it.

Here are some other ideas of how to use it:

• For a quick chocolate fix, mix 1 teaspoon cocoa (or to taste) with yogurt or sliced fruit.

• Make your own cocoa soy pudding. Blend 1 tablespoon of cocoa with 1/2 pound of silken tofu and sweeten as desired with date sugar, maple syrup, or other unrefined sweetener.

• Stir up a smoothie by blending cocoa with fruit and milk, soy milk, or frozen yogurt.

• Brew up a chocolate coffee substitute, using coarsely ground, roasted cocoa beans. Using approximately the same amount of ground cocoa as you would coffee, brew in a drip coffee maker for a bitter beverage much like modern coffee.

The last one sounds particularly interesting to me. I'd love to try it sometime.

I bought my generic can of pure cocoa at the grocery store for about $3. I can't wait to try it in milk!
