The wonderful
Jeananne at
Ancient Sun Nutrition sent me a package this past week with
lots of goodies to
try! I have to say I first heard about these great bars from Heather over at
Heather Eats Almond Butter and thought I had to try them. There aren't a lot of places around here that sell them so I'm glad that Ancient Sun was able to send me a few to try out!

I was given a sample of the
Mayan Spice, the
Mountain Mint and then a packet of the
Crystal Manna Powder (to mix into my green monsters in the mornings) all to help with my nutrition while I'm beginning my half-marathon training.
From the
WildBar Site:
"The WILDBAR is a 100% raw, organic, Kosher, non-GMO, "whole food & meal in a bar" that combines raw cacao with a proprietary 1,500mg blend of Ancient Sun's fresh-dried wild blue-green algae and wild blue-green algae extract, as well as with selected superfoods, herbs and spices (see ingredient list below). WILDBAR's benefits include: increased mental and physical energy, heightened clarity and attention, elevated mood and sense of well-being (due to the significant concentrations of phenylethylamine - PEA (30mg PEA per bar) - in the raw cacao and the wild blue-green algae), strengthened immune function, and enhanced joint flexibility. The only sweetener used is all natural, dark blue agave nectar, which has an extremely low glycemic index."
Sounds great for someone who is training for a half-marathon right?

I started with the
Mountain Mint - which as soon as I opened I was greeted with the
fresh, clean smell of mint! It smelled almost like
chocolate mint ice cream! I was really excited as that's one of my favorite flavor combinations. Biting into it was almost like biting into a
Thin Mint - which I haven't had in several years because of how BAD they are for you! This seriously satisfied my chocolate mint cravings! It was SO chocolatey and SO minty that I only ate half of it in the morning.
I was really impressed that it only had 185 calories (but 55% of my daily
fiber and 53% of my daily
B12 ) and I was able to split it in half and eat the other half later. Usually I can't do that with a bar and these were filling enough that I was able to do that easily!

The
Mayan Spice has a great smell of cinnamon and oranges with lots of hearty macadamia nut chunks. It's so delicious and almost feels downright decadent for a bar. I'm really impressed with these!
Look at those big chunks of macadamia nut and at how dark and decadent the bar is! I would 100% recommend buying these bars if it wasn't for one thing - they retail for
$3.95 each! Ouch! They are going to be a special indulgence for sure, but I just can't pay that for my every day bars during training.
What are some of your special indulgences in life?
