Leg & Cardio Day 6/25/2009

Posted Nov 04 2009 10:02pm

lunges4 Being that it’s Thursday that means leg day for me, plus of course cardio training as well.  It all went pretty smoothly with nothing great happening. I did what  I did and I have to say that I do up the intensity a bit so I guess that’s a plus and another step forward. Right now I am just tired and have a lot on my mind right now so it’s hard to concentrate in writing today. Everything is going OK and maybe that’s the problem. I want it to be more than OK! I really to expect a lot out of myself and part of me doesn’t think I am training to my full potential and I don’t know how to change that. I still am limited to what my body will do because of my weight still and that’s a bit discouraging as well. I want to do more with weights and running and that sometimes is limited because of the arthritis in my knee, which was acting up today as well. I probably should stop my whining now and just be happy with the progress that I am making. It is better than nothing.

So for cardio I did:

  • 35 minutes on Elliptical Trainer @ 2.10 miles, Level 18 & 20, 3.60 mph & 751 calories burned.
  • 40 minutes on Treadmill @ 2.35 miles, Incline 5-9%, Average speed 2.35 mph & 610 calories burned.

All in all I did 75 minutes and burned 1361 calories.

Then from there I worked out with Chris for about an hour and did:

  1. 4 sets with 15-20 reps per set
  • Barbell-End hack Squats ( I am facing the weight instead of it on my shoulders) * See Video below :-)
  • Squats then Lunges with dumbbells
  • Dumbbell step ups
  • 1 lap around track

So I know it doesn’t seem like I did a lot but boy did this workout kick my arse. It  was a tough one for me and like I said I did 4 sets. I wish more could have been added, like leg press, but Chris felt that this was enough because of some knee discomfort I was having.  I’ll take what I can get though and hopefully next time I’ll be able to push myself harder.

That wraps it up for today. Time for me to take a shower and then have a delicious lunch of grilled chicken, broccoli and a nice big salad with oil and vinegar.

Catch you all later and as always thanks so much for stopping by :-)
