Little slice of heaven:

Hi friends :D
Here is the little project I've been working on:
Little bridesmaids and a bride (the lumpy bridesmaid in the back got transported to trash city by the Bridezilla who told her she wasn't cute enough)
Made of vegan pumpkin muffins, covered in gum paste with gum paste bodices and hangers

A fondant-covered pumpkin caramel cake with buttercream frosting and gum paste flowers:

Put the bridal party on the cake,
and here we go:

I was pleased with how it turned it-- it was by no means perfect but it tasted pretty darn good to me :D
Proof that if you're my friend, I'll do anything for you! Even make a cake with fondant which I was horrified of doing. So I channeled my inner Chocolate Covered Vegan and went for it. Maybe one day, if I'm lucky, I'll be half as good as that girl is :D
Not exactly the Goldilocks of running:
To rewind back to my day --this morning feels like it was so long ago! -- I woke up to a PABJ b-fast cookie to munch before our 10k
-1/3 cup oats
-less than 1 tbs AB
-1/3 scoop chocolate protein powder
-1 tbs Polaner
-Splash of almond milk

This was an excellent pre-race breakfast. Filling, but no overwhelmingly so, and delicious
I also had a 1/2 cup of coffee.
Driving to the race, I got lost (standard- I never check directions....), we had to ask a girl on campus how to get to the rec center, then finally found it.
I was greeted by this sweet shirt:

Isn't it cute?!? Long-sleeved, which I adore, and I think the little turkeys are so funny.
When AJ and I got to the race, I picked out the girl I wanted to beat. I always do this for motivation-- so weird, but I'll look for someone who I perceive to be in the same shape as myself, then decide to beat that person. Today it was a very cute girl in a matchy-matchy running outfit. She was going down.. haha. Does anyone else do this?
We started the race, and as usual, I had no clue how to pace myself. I almost always start too fast, so this time I started a little slower and got to the first mile by 9:15, which is pretty slow for my usual 8:30/mile pace. So to make up for it, I sped up, almost died running up a hill, and got to mile 2 by 17:15. Which was a little too fast. BAH!!! I finally got to a good pace and finished mile 4 by 36 minutes, which was ideal for me. That is, until my legs started to feel heavy and painful.
I couldn't walk. That was one of my goals (to finish in less than an hour and NOT WALK), so no matter what, I wouldn't do it. I also felt like I needed to earn that cute turkey shirt by not running.
So I pushed through... I beat the girl (!), didn't walk (!), and finished in 58:45 (!!!!).
I think that in order to make myself run I need to pay someone, and receive a cute shirt in the end. If anyone is interested in making a lot of money, just have me write a check to you, tell me to run, and wait for me at the end with a cute shirt. I'll totally do it :D
To celebrate our first 10ks, AJ and I were ready for some carby goodness, so we went to Metro Bagel:
I got a multi-grain bagel with light cream cheese and an egg

I killed it! So good.....
When I got home, I took a shower, crawled into bed and slept for another hour and a half. After this insane week, my body was exhausted and it felt so good to take advantage of the fact that I didn't have to be anywhere until tonight.
When I got up, I worked on a management project and then it was lunch time.
Leftover eggplant with sundried tomatoes and raw goat cheese:

I also had a "baked apple" (microwaved with cinnamon):

And since I've been fighting the sniffles, one of these little guys:

I chilled, did a little stretching because my legs were starting to feel tight, then made these to take to AJs shower:

For a snack, I had one of these:

Got ready, then left for the shower.
Renee had an amazing spread set out:
Autumn salad with carrots, apricots, cabbage, walnuts, dried cranberries and apricots and yogurt dressing, greens salad, tortellini with basil and tomato

My sweet potato fries, whole wheat pitas, turkey wraps, vegetarian wraps, butternut squash dip ( which I couldn't get enough of), Dove dark chocolates and bruschetta.

Here's my plate:
A little tortellini, veggie wrap, pita, squash dip, yogurt dip, fries and autumn salad

I went back for more pita and dip, and a chocolate :D
The shower was a lot of fun!
Well I'm back at the casa, about to take the puppies out and start working on our raw vegan feast for tomorrow night. Megan and her pilot are coming over for tacos, chips, guacamole, salsa, spanish rice (not raw, but amazing) and her famous ice cream. I'm stoked.
Hope you're all having a wonderful weekend!
xoxo,
Gina
