Jack’s Mannequin Concert

Posted Feb 07 2012 10:15pm

Hello!  The past week has been hectic, and unfortunately I have fallen out of some healthy habits.  From time to time it happens to everyone.  Being busy means not having the time to cook healthy meals, and staying up late and studying definitely takes its toll on me.  I haven’t had the energy or time to complete some my planned workouts.  Luckily, tomorrow is a new day, and I am excited to start it off with some spinning and healthy eats!  I need some vegetables in my diet, badly.

Last night, after my exam and class, I went to the Jack’s Mannequin concert!  I was so excited to go since Andrew McMahon is one of my favorite artists, but I was definitely pretty drained from the late night of studying I tackled the night before.  The concert started at 6pm, but there were two opening acts so we had some time to grab a bite to eat and a few beers before Jack’s Mannequin went on at 9pm.

We went to a restaurant around the corner from the TLA, and had some good food and brews.  I tried a new beer that I had never had before and loved it!  Sometimes trying something new really pays off.  I am often guilty of getting the same things over and over again.  If I know that I like something on the menu, I sometimes just get what I know I like instead of risking getting something that I might not like.  Basically, I need to be less boring because trying new things is awesome!

The nachos were not healthy, but they were mighty delicious.  The salad was really refreshing with avocado, fresh shrimp, corn, red onion, and tomatoes.

The concert was amazing, and I really had a blast.  We got to the TLA about 30 minutes before Jack’s Mannequin came on.  The concert was standing room only with a general admission.  I often get panicky in crowded rooms, so we headed upstairs to get a drink and see if there was a good standing area there.  I noticed an area that had about 10 stools that was roped off from everyone else, and I asked the security guard how to get in there and she said they were VIP seats.  We chilled in the area around it which wasn’t too crowded, and I ended up befriending someone who was working there.  I asked him if he could get us into the VIP area which was virtually empty, and he came through!  It was the best end to a long day!  We got to sit down, watch the concert without any obstructed views or crowds, and I was loving it.  Sometimes all you have to do is ask to get what you want!

Today, I hibernated and recovered for several days of no sleep.  I slept all day, ate, and watched TV.  It was the perfect lazy day.  I really felt like I just needed a day to decompress, recharge my batteries, and get some energy to push me through the rest of the month.  I have a lot of important things for school coming up this month, and I can’t afford to burn the candle at both ends.

Tomorrow is a new day!  Back to healthy habits, and getting into 52 challenges week 3’s challenge!  Can’t wait for early morning spin to get some blood moving and feel those endorphins!
