If you're in the market to turn your cardio workout up a notch and really melt away the extra pounds in as little time as possible it may be time to turn to the jump rope. Pretty much everyone is capable of performing the basic jump after a few minutes of practice, if not immediately, and the physical act of jumping rope will give you an intense cardiovascular workout. Jumping rope is a great alternative to running that can be done inexpensively (a good rope can usually be found for under ten bucks) and with very little space required. There are enough variations you can perform that this workout will never get boring, and jumping rope will add explosive power to your legs and develop your coordination.
