Is Time Under Tension All It's Cracked Up To Be? I'm going to tralk about the holy cow that is TUT. It's a good theory, it really is but the problem exists that it isn't backed by anything, not one piece of research. I'm know experience wins over research every day but don't you think researchers would of looked at different tempos? I'm not going to nitpick the difference between a 3 second eccentric and 3.5 eccentric but does your body really know the difference? Tension is key for muscle growth but what if the tension is so low just because we need to use a 4 second eccentric? Go lower to a 2 second? Well that doesn't load the muscle to the "optimal" zone. Is it helpful? Yes Can it cause growth? Yes Should we blindly follow it without questioning it because it is all we have done? No |
