Summer is nigh and the hot days just keep coming. Okay, I know it's the Bay and "hot" is a relative term, but still, a guarantee you I will wish I had air-conditioning at least once a month. On these days I go ice skating. Work in downtown Oakland? Live down there? Too hot to go to the gym during your lunch hour? The Oakland ice-rink has a lunch special--$5 includes skates and admission from 12-2 M-F. If this is a bit treacherous for you please know that my friend Hilary went with me one time and they lent her a walker (yes, like the kind old people have) so she wouldn't fall on the ice.
