How Much Is Your Experience Worth?
Saturday was an interesting day for me. I was watching college football upsets all day, went to see a local high school football game, watched my USC Trojans survive a scare, watched the Mr.Olympia coverage on www. bodybuilding.com and took out 9 books from the library.
I'd say I was pretty busy
While reading one of those books I came across a great story about the painter Picasso. The legend goes that Picasso was eating dinner at a restaurant when a women approached him and said "I'll pay you whatever you want if you draw me a picture".
So Picasso took a napkin and scribbled something for 15 seconds and said "Ok, $10,000 dollars". The women responded by saying " That took your 15 second".
Picasso replied "Nope, it took me 30 years and 15 seconds".
The moral of the story is, it's not about what you've done recently, it's about your overall experience. It's how very successful people can charge a good amount for their services and how a young kid can think he's the greatest.
It's experience, not defined by your years in the trade but how dedicated you are to your craft.
