How Bad Do You Want It? : Jenn Takes On The Challenge

Hi Guys! So we haven't had a How Bad Do You Want It? in a while...meet Jenn--she's a mother of 5 kids and an all-together witty lady trying to get her health in order. So far, she's lost 20 lbs! What is your goal? And why?

My goal is to get my health back and feel better about myself. I have 5 children and they are affected by my weight. I want to be able to keep up with them and have fun. Gone are the days of being a couch potato. I want to be an example to them on choosing the right foods. I also have diabetes and I need to have it under control. I have a good friend whose husband has diabetes and he just chose to be in denial about it. He is currently waiting for a kidney transplant. I don't want that to be me.

How much weight do you want to lose? And in how much time?
I would like to lose 100 pounds in the next year.

What's your prior experience with exercise?
My answer would have been What's exercise? Are you kidding? Exercise was so not for me. I have no coordination. I am one of those chicks you would see tripping over her own two feet

What kinds of exercise have you tried in the past?
I have tried walking and that is about it. When I was younger I loved biking and swimming.

What is your relationship to food like?
I am a total foodie. Cooking is my passion. I am most at peace when in the kitchen surrounded by all my favorite cooking gadgets.

What steps are you taking to reach your goal?
I did a radical change in in the foods I am eating. I am not eating anything processed or with white flour or with added sugars. So basically I am eating fruits, vegetables, tofu, nuts, egg whites, chicken and fish. I also gave up caffeine. I also started exercising daily.

How bad do you want it?
I want it so much that the sacrifices are worth it. I want to be around for my kids.

What small change can you make--today?
Drink more water and just start moving. Even if it is baby steps at first. Eventually you will make it all around the block.
