Hoodia gordonii resembles a cactus, but is actually a succulent from the Kalahari Desert of southern Africa. Hoodia gordonii is not a drug but a plant - a herb. Some pharmaceuticals companies are trying to isolate the "P57" appetite suppressing molecule to create a pharmaceutical drug in the near future, but the Gordonii variant of Hoodia only has the appetite suppressant characteristics.
