Hello to another doozy of a day

Posted Sep 07 2008 2:19am

Hello! IT'S THURSDAY!!! I'm so thankful this week was a shorty, because it's been a busy one and I'm ready to chill for a second.

Last night, I didn't get the chance to blog because I was dead. My body is in shock because even though I've been working out regularly, it's not like the college days where I was dancing 6 hours a week and teaching 15 dance classes a week. After not dancing for a while, teaching aerobics has definitely shocked my body! Between teaching spin, Zumba and doing weights yesterday morning, it takes a lot of effort to walk today. Hahah, I look pretty cool going up and down the stairs :)

Yesterday after weights (I did the upper body workout from this month's Oxygen), I came home and had a Pure Protein and a Chobani:

I worked on my finance paper, practiced my Zumba dances and then met some friends for lunch. I forgot my camera!

Here's what I had:

Gazpacho and 1/2 turkey wrap (turkey spinach, golden raisins, cherry tomatoes and balsamic on a whole wheat wrap) from Two Friends Cafe.

After lunch I came home, worked some more on that darn paper and at 3:45, sat down to burn my CDs for Zumba and spin. They would not burn. I was panicking... after 3 failed attempts, I restarted the computer and tried a new CD.By that time it was 4:25 and I teach at 5!!! Base is about 25 minutes away and I knew I was going to be late. The computer finally burned my Zumba cd (I had to use an old one for spin) and raced to the gym. Of course I got every light on red and was 5 minutes late to teach my spin class.

The 4 people that were there were really cool about it, but I felt bad and it kinda threw the rest of my night off. You know when you're rushing around and are late and the rest of the time you feel like you're playing "catch up"? That's exactly what happened to me last night.

Spin went really well (we burned 382 cals since we started late) and then I changed and got ready for Zumba. It was a lot of fun (we actually had about 12 people in there, which was awesome for a first-time class) but I don't know if it was because I was still feeling like I was playing catch up or what, but I was just kind of off. I had planned out moves for each of the songs and ended up forgetting most of them and having to make up a lot of stuff on the spot. It seemed like everyone still liked it and had fun (and we burned 485 cals), but I just feel like I could have done so much better. I'm hoping they come back next week!

I had brought a pita and (my last!) packet of Barney Butter to eat in between classes (in the 5 minutes I have to change and set up the stereo) and it totally didn't happen. I was beyond starving.

I felt like there wasn't enough food in the world for me. I had a fruit bowl when I got back to the casa, waiting for the pilot to get home:

We made a huge bowl of healthy guacamole to eat while we were deciding dinner plans (there was no way I could cook last night). I used a pita to scoop mine up:

Here's the recipe (I haven't calculated out nutritional info yet...):

Guacamole:

- 1 ripe 'cado

- juice of 1 lemon

-1/2 red onion, diced

- 1 large tomato, seeded and diced

- 1/2 cup light sour cream or plain nonfat greek yogurt

- Splash of Worsteshire sauce and hot sauce

- Garlic powder, cumin, salt and pepper

Mash the avocado in a bowl and add the lemon juice. Stir to combine and add in the diced tomato and onion. Stir in sour cream or yogurt until creamy and add the worsteshire, hot sauce, garlic powder, cumin, salt and pepper. Test it out and adjust the seasonings to your liking.

We went out to dinner (forgot my camera again. Blog slacker.) and chilled at Books A Million for a little while.

When we got back, I crashed out.

This morning, I woke up to some delicious overnight oats (1/2 cup old fashioned oats with 2/3 cup FF organic milk), and added 1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder, a banana and 1/5 of a new granola plank (Maple Almond Crunch) . With some tiramisu coffee, it was perfect:

I'm off to do weights, finish that finance paper and kiss it goodbye from my life, take the pilot lunch, get the puppies' heart guard med from the vet, teach step and then off to school.

Hope you all have a wonderful Thursday!

Much love,

G
