Heat it up this Summer!

This Weeks Fitpoint is Beat the Heat!

Do you let the heat get to you? Does it push you to sweat for the beach body of your dreams? How do you keep cool in the middle of a sweltering summer workout?
I love the heat. Sun and I get along in the best of ways, I just love it! In fact, as I write this, I’m soaking up the rays in my bikini in the backyard, half damp from my last cannonball into the pool.  Summer is the perfect time to soak up some Vitamin D, and some color that helps expose muscle definition. Does the summer heat push me for a beachbody? Absolutley! Summer is the time of year most people use as the deadline for their fitness or weight loss goals, because it is the season to show off. Tank tops, shorts, flirty dresses, and beachwear are all pushing us to look our best. I want to look good in a bikini, I want to feel good in a bikini, and most of all, I want to be happy and healthy while the sun is out.

When I work out, I prefer to work out inside with AC or a healthy amount of blasting fans, and I’m good to my body when it comes to hydration needs. I consume at least a full bottle of water per workout, and often more. I carry a bottle of water with me every where I go, and often have a flat of waterbottles in the truck of my car, if I’ve managed to forget. So slipping inside for a cool drink and to work out after an afternoon in the sun just feels amazing!

I think the best workout for the summer is dance. There is a areason that nearly every tropical resort offers lessons in the local style of dance; Whether you’re heating it up with some spicy salsa, keeping it cool with Hip Hop, or flailing with some Sabar, the hottest dances developed in the hottest places of the world, and we should pay heed to this! The summer is also a great time to shed the layers and feel sexy, why not move your hips to the beat, and work toward an even sexier figure? Dancing is great cardio, great core work, and often a great workout for the lower body as well.  Mingled with a balanced resistance routine,dance is a great addition to any workout shedule.

This summer, I will be adding dance to my routine in a number of different ways. I’ll be taking weekly pole dancing classes, returning to Brazilian dance with Leandro Carvahlo and Brazil Butt Lift, and exploring some aspects of Zumba (Which you can expect to see a review of in the upcoming weeks on here as well).
