Hellooooo! Hope you have had a happy Saturday so far!
Mine has been buuuuusssssyyy!
I started off the day by waking up at 6:30 to get ready for the 5k. I took the puppers out and had a little coffee and a Luna.
I went to grab my iPod and to my dismay, IT'S NOT WORKING! When I press play (even though it's fully charged), it flashes green and orange then shuts off! I googled it, and apparently this is called the flashing lights of death. So I was forced to run without my trusty pink iPod.
Renee and AJ picked me up and we went down to St. John's for the race, which is one of the biggest annual races in V-town.
Renee and I ran together for the first mile (we finished it at 8:35) and the split up because I was feeling spunky, even with the lack of tunes .
I finished the 5k in 26:15, which is my best time ever!!!:D I haven't ran a 5k race in a little over a year, and it felt so good to beat my previous time. I finished 2nd in my age group and got a sweet medal:

After the race, they had bagels (I ate 1/2 whole grain one, but didn't have my camera with me!) and then I went to the spouses book club at Atlanta Bread. I haven't read the book for the book club yet --too busy with school-- but it's always nice to chat it up with the girls :D
When I got home, I made an two egg white and salsa pita and some nanner and Naturally More PB:

I took the babies on a 30 minute walk and then met Jeni at the gym for some weights.
Today was legs day:
| Warm up | Treadmill, 15 minutes at 4.0 mph with 2.5% incline |
| Weighted Plie Squats | 12 lb kettleball, 3 sets of 12 |
| Hamstring stability ball roll | Body weight, 3 sets of 10 |
| Calf press | 80 lbs, 3 sets of 12 |
| Lunges | 8 lbs each, 3 sets of 10 on each side |
| Romanian deadlifts | 30 lb barbell, 3 sets of 12 |
| Barbell squats | 30 lb barbell, 3 sets of 12 |
| Total time: 45 minutes | |
After the gym, I came home to make Vanessa's baby dinner- shrimp lettuce wraps with brown jasmine rice. I used this recipe using shrimp instead of tofu, and of course had to taste a little before giving it to someone else ;)
Moment of truth: (sorry for the weird pic- I promise it looked appetizing)

It tasted pretty fabulous :D
I took it over to Vanessa's and saw her cute and tiny little baby and then came home for a minute before going out for sushi.
I was starving. The little pomegranate cheesecake was beckoning to me. So I listened.
My family motto (I'm serious): Eat dessert first.

It was even better the next day! Thank you, Megan :D
I'm glad I ate it because the service at the Japanese steakhouse was hoooooorrible. It's like they've never seen a party of 10 before. They also didn't have their liquor license yet, so one of the wives was kind enough to bring us some drinkies :D
I was really craving sashimi, but the smallest order is 21 pieces and $30! They wouldn't halve the order for me, so I got hibachi like everyone else.
Standard soup and salad:

Oh how I love ginger dressing:

Shrimp and veggies (I always ask for no rice):

Despite the terrible service, dinner was delicious. Jeni and I decided to hit up Marble Slab afterwards and get some ice cream. Why not have dessert twice in a day, right? ;)
My naughty taster flavor was pumpkin today (which is outta control scrumptious) and I ordered a small strawberry frozen yogurt with chocolate chips:

It hit the spot and I was pleasantly FULL and exhausted from this whirlwind of a day!
I'm about to crawl into bed and have to meet my management group early tomorrow morning for a project. At least today was fun :D
KEEP THOSE BSI RECIPES COMIN'! You have until midnight on Sunday (or when I wake up Monday morning) to submit your cranberry recipes to Fitnessista at gmail dot com. I've been receiving so many interesting and fun cranberry creations and think I may have to enlist the help of a certain pilot to help me pick the winner.
I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend!
See ya tomorrow,
G
