One big, and incidentally very difficult to achieve, goal of the fitness buff is the six pack (we're talking about abs here, not beer). Most people do hundreds and hundreds of reps of crunches, sit-ups and leg raises but still never manage to see the elusive abdominal muscles. So what is the problem? We're focusing too much on abdominal exercise and not paying enough attention to cardio training and our diets. If you really want to see your abs forget about doing a thousand crunches, start counting your calories and spend a little more time on the treadmill or stair-climber. Your abs are probably getting enough work from squats and push-ups or bench press to need too many additional exercise that focus only on them; and remember, no matter how strong your abs are, you'll never see them while they're beneath a layer of fat ; crunches won't burn fat, but cardio will.
