Get in Shape and Prevent Heart Disease at the Same Time

Posted by Nirmala N.

Heart disease may very well be America's number one health problem, but in the American consciousness, it's taken a backseat to cancer--at least in the minds of many American women, who are actually at a significantly higher risk for heart disease than American men overall. But it's actually fairly easy to take some extra preventative steps against heart disease. One of the easiest ways to start is simply by incorporating at least a minimal routine of exercise and diet into your life. Women can be more proactive in lowering their risk of heart disease simply by doing 30 minutes of brisk exercise three times a week (such as walking, low-impact aerobics, swimming, or yoga)--this can reduce the risk of heart disease by 50 percent, according to cardiologists.
