This morning when my alarm went off at 6:45 am, I was having an interesting dream. I didn't even realize why I was waking up. After coming to my senses, I contemplated sleeping in since I had a long day with a lot to do. I then was like...hey girl, you're no quitter. Get your butt out of bed! I actually felt really rested when I woke up which is unusual because I could always sleep for hours and hours more. It was like waking up and trying to decide if you want to go to class to not. I always know that if I don't go I will just lay awake and kick myself because I can't even enjoy sleeping in anymore. I knew this would be the same case and since the birds were chirping and there was no rain...I went.

It was really cloudy, but I'm so glad it didn't rain. I was freezing before the start of the race, but after I started running that wasn't a problem anymore. The wind was insane, but I had a GREAT time running this race. I didn't look at my garmin until we were almost at mile 3. There were no mile markers so not knowing how long I'd been running or how far really made it go by a little faster. The race was not just a boring out and back course so that also helped. We turned a lot and were cruising around the Navy Yard. There was water to look at, boats, buildings, etc all of which I had never seen before. The race was for "Students Run Philly Style" and there were a lot of kids running along the course which was really great and motivating. Running is such a great hobby for both fitness and fun, and helping kids in middle school and high school get started is really a great cause. I don't consider myself an expert runner by any means, so running along side all the kids made me feel like we were all doing it together. A great way to start the day!
