From Couch to 5K: Taj's 9-Week Plan to Get You Running!

Happy Wednesday People!  Some call it hump day, but we're gonna call it Fit Day!  You can expect to receive some fitness-related topic from me every Wednesday.  Hopefully they will help to get over those hump day blues and also give you a lil surge for the weekend to come.


So as promised, Karina and I will be running a 5K soon and would truly love for to join us if you live in the New York Metro Area. (More details to come on Monday!) Now we realize some of you are not fitness enthusiasts, or shall I rephrase:  Some of you need a little push with your enthusiasm.  Well you're in luck!  I have included an easy to follow workout to help you get off the couch and up and running with us.  Weeks 1 is below. I'll upload the schedule weekly, but you can see the entire 9-week plan  here . (Print it out and carry it with you!) It's a simple routine you can follow three times a week. You don't have to be a couch potato to join us for the run. We welcome all and if you have some fitness experience and need to modify the run let me know, I will be happy to give you some tips.

COUCH TO 5K












Week 1






Workout 1
Brisk five-minute warmup walk.






Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes.





Workout 2
Brisk five-minute warmup walk.






Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes.





Workout 3
Brisk five-minute warmup walk.
