Exercises In Front Of The TV

Posted Jul 01 2009 9:42pm
Does your T.V. care if you are fit?

Does your T.V. care if you are healthy?

Does your T.V. want you to have a strong core?

No! No! And No!

If it did, that would be weird - wouldn't it?

But, I care.

And that is only a little weird...after all I don't know you.

So here is another exercise to do in front of your T.V.

Exercises In Front Of The T.V. #3
The Dead Bug

Nobody likes bugs. Now that I think about it, the only kinda bug most of us like - is a DEAD bug. Well you will either love or hate this Dead Bug because it is quite a challenging core exercise. This move will improve your core stability because you need to control the arch of your lower back and keep your deep abdominals engaged while your opposite limbs move. It might seem like patting your head and rubbing your stomach, but it's really a great alternative to the neck straining crunches.

The Set Up and Execution:
  • Lie on your back
  • Bend both knees to 90 degrees and raise them directly above your hips
  • Also straighten both arms up towards the ceiling
  • Before you start moving, flatten your lower back against the floor and draw in your belly button (try to maintain these two components throughout the entire exercise)
  • Simultaneously lower RIGHT leg and LEFT arm - both should NOT touch the floor
  • Initiate the movement back up to the starting position with your core and pause
  • Now lower down your opposite limbs, your LEFT leg and RIGHT arm
  • Exhale as the limbs come back up to the beginning position

The Goal:
  • Start with 6 to 12 repetitions on each side, you can build up to 20 on each side.
  • Perform 2 to 3 sets with 30-60 seconds rest in between
  • When you master this, you can make the exercise harder by keep your legs straight the entire time rather then bending them!
