There have been studies documenting about how moderate alcohol consumption may improve your health. If you are on a weight loss program, you need to know that calories from alcohol cannot be used for fuel during exercise and alcohol does not provide any vitamins, minerals or fiber. One gram of alcohol provides 7 calories. Only fat (9 cal/g) provides more calories than alcohol. So, when you are planning your food and drink consumption, don't forget the calories from alcohol!
