This month’s Fit Point:
Everyone envies someone else. People say they don’t, but they do. It’s just human nature to want what you don’t have or have yet to obtain. Who do you envy in the fitness world? Is it a friend, your trainer, a bodybuilder, or a fitness model? There has to be someone. Share you envy and let it out. It may even help you feel better and learn to deal with this or even overcome that green feeling.
While I do believe envy is a waste of time, I can admit to feeling a bit envious at times. I think it is only natural but I don’t obsess about it. I feel that it only becomes dangerous and real waste of time if you’re obsessing over it.
There isn’t one specific fitness model or athlete that stands out but I can say that I am personally envious of all people who enjoy running. I love weightlifting but I have a really hard time with cardio activities and high intensity interval training. HIIT is what helped me lose the last 10 pounds of my most recent pregnancy, but now that I don’t necessarily have pounds to lose, I find it difficult to get motivated to continue running or doing HIIT even once or twice a week. And I know how horrible that is.
Even though I know what kind of results to expect, I just don’t like running. And what’s really ridiculous is that I do love how it makes me feel during the run and afterwards, I just have a hard time jumping on the treadmill or actually starting an activity. I feel like I accomplished something and I know I burned some mega-calories and fat, but I still don’t perform cardiovascular exercise as much as I should.
