Don't Grow Old Gracefully.....Grow Old Exercising!

It's okay if your body doesn't respond to physical activity and exercise as it once did when you were 20 or 30 years old! You can't change your age but you can slow down your biological clock. You don't have to significantly decrease your activity level as you grow older. You just might need to change the type of exercises you do, such as doing low-impact exercises to decrease wear and tear on your body. From adulthood into middle age, you will lose approximately 6.6 pounds of lean muscle mass during each decade of life. Numerous studies indicate that muscle mass may decline by 20% to 40% between age 20 and age 65. Muscle inflexibility, joint/tendon/ligament stiffness, bone loss and decreased range of motion also comes along with inactivity. You can stop a significant portion of this deterioration of muscle mass and mobility by using a regular strength and conditioning program throughout your life.
