To lose those 'love handles' you'll need to lose bodyfat. Hop on the treadmill or elliptical for 30 minutes 4 times per week and cut out the high calorie fatty foods. Then you can do some oblique exercises using the physio ball to firm up the area. But don't limit your core work to just your obliques, remember to balance out all the core muscles, including your lower back. Good Luck.
I agree with the above, BUT you do not need to do long boring cardio. To lose the fat I would suggest a full body workout that use supersets with short rest periods to keep the intensity high. For cardio try high intensity interval training.
Of course the most important key to lose fat is your diet. Try to eat healthy, natural foods (lean meats, fruits, veggies and whole grains). I try to avoid all processed foods (ie. anything out of a can or box).
