Do More…Do Less…A New Approach to Goal Setting

Posted Jan 09 2012 8:30am

January 1, 2012 has come and gone and at this time we are well into our new year, our new resolutions, our new goals. And if you are like the rest of us women out there, then your Number One Resolution for 2012 is to lose weight.  Shocking, right?

Well, probably not because about 99% of all people have this goal. In fact, CNN lists weight loss as the number one goal for several years running! (For those of you in the 1% who reached your weight loss goal, congratulations and way to go!!) But for those of us who did not, we are in the exact same spot from 365 days ago and trying yet again to reach the same goals. Seem crazy, right?

This year, however, I am choosing a new game plan and I challenge everyone to try it as well. What I am talking about is actually an easy concept…It is the Do More…Do Less Approach.

What exactly do I mean? (I’m sure most of you are asking this very question right now.) Well, let me explain. Instead of making a general goal to lose weight, think instead of all the little habits you can do more of that will benefit your health, fitness and wellness….and all the habits that you can do less of to also benefit your health, fitness and wellness. To give you an example, here are my Do More and Do Less lists.

Seems so much easier than just saying, “I will lose 5 pounds” or ” I will go to the gym” or “I will get in shape this year.” Don’t you think?

I welcome you to share your Do More…Do Less lists here as well. They work in all areas, so go crazy and see how you can fit them into your life!
