Do Fat Cells Just Shrink When You Lose Fat? Or Disappear?

If you’re curious about how to lose body fat you may also be curious as to what happens to your fat cells when you do make that change and start eating healthy and working out. You might wonder whether or not your fat cells disappear or just shrink.
Here’s the answer…
The answer is that they shrink and do not disappear. The only way for them to disappear would be to explore options of cosmetic surgery. But, this really isn’t necessary. When your fat cells shrink, they shrink to a size so small that your original lean physique is restored.
There is, however, one problem when you wonder how to lose body fat. The newly shrunk fat cells will stay there and have the potential to expand in the future if you don’t effectively maintain your healthy lifestyle.
Will this be a difficult thing to maintain? Well, it all depends on the process you’re using to drop the weight.
Using Fad Diets
Fad diets do not properly modify eating and lifestyle choices that help in maintaining low daily calorie consumptions. Therefore, once you get off the fad diet, you’ll quickly discover your weight gain increasing at a rate you probably would not be comfortable with.
Changing Your Lifestyle Permanently
On the flipside, if you were to do what is needed to completely modify your lifestyle in a healthy manner, this would not be the issue. The same can be said if you continue to follow a decent exercise program. So, the small fat cells will not grow to any degree. You will have altered your lifestyle in such a way that there will be no reason for the cells to grow once again.
The bottom line is that if you know how to lose body fat the right way, you wouldn’t have to worry about whether the cells shrink or disappear.
