Day 18 : Seeking a treasure chest

Today I could have slapped myself. Hit the gym for my chest session. Last time I only worked with 3 sets of each exercise cause I was pushed for time but this week I stepped up to my usual 4 sets. Of course I didn't factor in the muscle fatigue as the session wore on.

Cue schoolboy error - on the fourth set of incline bench press I began to struggle (within form) around rep 6 - I pushed it out. Then rep 7. I pushed it hard. I considered briefly quitting there but damn pride got the better of me and I went for the 8th rep.

Got a third of the way up and everything just failed. Cue me lowering barbell onto my chest, rolling it down to my midriff before I could safely lower it to the floor. Not only that but the humiliation of having to unrack the weight BEFORE I could replace it on the rack.

Could. have. slapped. myself. On my birthday as well! It could have dehydration as well as water intake today was poor.

Apart from that it was a good session and I suppose a lesson learned - Listen to your body. I finished off with a light swim. I wonder if the sanguine nature of swimming helps lactic acid dissipatate?

Dinner tonight was a dry stir fry. Handfuls of peppers, green beans, beansprouts, spring and white onion, parma ham with a flat lamachun bread and a sprinkling of cheese. Delicious.

I added a protein shake afterwards though just to feed the guns!!

    • Incline Bench Press w/dumbell [4 sets 8 reps 24KG]
    • Bench Press w/barbell [4 sets 8 reps 75KG]
    • Incline Bench Press w/barbell [4 sets 8 reps 60KG]
    • Lying Dumbell Flyes [4 sets 8 reps 12KG]
    • Press ups till failure [19 full reps]

Can't believe I couldn't push 0ut another rep on the incline bench - gonna nail that b*tch next week!
