Check out Fitterwith.com for free fitness advice!

Posted Apr 16 2010 5:30am

Happy Friday, guys! Let me tell you about a new website that launched a couple of weeks ago by celebrity fitness expert Jeff Halevy--it's called Fitterwith . It provides instant access to personalized advice from fitness trainers and nutritionists through real-time, instantaneous conversation via the web. And the best part: It's FREE!

You can see part of a screen shot of a conversation I had last night with Jeff. Bboo--I asked him what he recommended for toning the legs, and he said, "Spot reduction is a myth!" You can read some of the convo above, but in essence, he said, workout and eat right and you'll get toned! And squats and lunges are still the best exercises to target that area.

Jeff's path to a career in fitness was an interesting trajectory--he says:

I grew up wrestling. I was a relatively athletic kid, but I got into a rough spot in college...I started using drugs and ended up putting myself in rehab. I was lucky enough to completely change my life around—one of the things that saved me was exercise.

He says his dad forced him to run with him, and at first, he was so out of shape he couldn't even run a mile, but eventually he recovered his fitness AND discovered his true passions were helping people and exercise. So after working for a health club, Jeff opened up Halevy Fitness in New York City, where he trains a broad spectrum of clients, from celebrities, professional ballerinas, and 70 year olds!

Anyway, back to Fitterwith--you can also use it to find a trainer that suits your needs and watch how-to videos posted by fitness trainers and nutritionists. Check it out!

PS: If you're in New York City and have time this weekend, check out the GETfit event Jeff is holding at the Adidas Sport Performance Store on Broadway and Houston this Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. There will be live on-the-spot diet and exercise instruction, free spin classes from Flywheel and much more. "It’s basically basically brings the excitement of the website into an event," Jeff says. Check that out too!
