I condition my body to play competitive sports; particularly, I play racquetball 3 to 4 times a week.
Cardio workouts are part of my conditioning.
Stretching is just as important because flexibility goes a long way.
I get on my Cardio machine for 10 minutes--my body is warm, now. I stretch. Simple stretches that go a long way.
I get back on the machine and continue for 25 minutes.
Some light weights, and I am toast--done.
I feel great, refreshed and ready to roll.
Awesome!!
Sounds like you've got a great plan in order to keep you in tip top condition of your competitive weekly racquetball games. Glad to read that you increase your body core temperature for about 10 minutes before engaging in your flexibility stretches. Current research shows the best flexibility occurs once the body is thoroughly warmed up. You may even want to include a longer 'flexibility' session at the end of your workout. Almost like the 'icing on the cake'. A good 5 minute total body relaxation and flexibility piece will provide great closure to your routine. Make sure you're including stretches that target the areas your used during your light weight routine.
