Hypothyroidism is the condition that occurs when the thyroid gland fails to produce enough thyroid hormone. It is also known as an under active thyroid and is mostly common found among women in the reproductive age range. This doesn’t mean that it can’t be found among kids and men although it is more common among females.

The thyroid gland which is located at the frontal and lower part of the neck, is a gland shaped like a butterfly and is responsible for the secretion of the hormones known as thyroxine and triiodothyronine. These hormones are generally responsible for balancing the humanmetabolicbody processes.

The shortage of these hormones in the body system is referred to as hypothyroidism. Until recently, it was assumed that the only treatment available for hypothyroidism was via prescription medicine. However, the recent boom in the health industry’s alternative medicine sector offers an alternative method of treatment for curing hypothyroidism. One of these methods is Acupuncture.

This treatment method is popular among the Chinese and has been said to be very successful in treating various conditions. In acupuncture, specific parts of the human anatomy associated with peripheral nerves are pierced with sharp, fine needles specifically designed for the purpose. These needles help in getting rid of the pain and curing the condition.

It’s said that people suffering from hypothyroidism found relief in this method. While it has not been confirmed if it has totally cured them, it is possible that it could act as a form of treatment and help sufferers to live a full life.

Acupuncture which has existed among the Chinese for centuries, is a highly respected form of treatment among Asians is reputed to have the ability to treat many diseases and give permanent healing to the majority of them.

To show how effective it is, acupuncture has been officially adopted as an effective mode of treatment in regions of South East Asia, while further research is being carried out regarding its effectiveness in eliminating and treating various diseases.

Hypothyroidism is not a benign disorder however, it can contribute to weight gain and lethargy, and can therefore be a risk factor for coronary artery disease and breast cancer.

Hypothyroidism is treatable in many patients using replacementthyroid hormone therapy. However, if you think orthodox medicine has not helped you, you might just want to try out other alternative forms of medical treatments such as herbal treatments and methods such as acupuncture. Some of these methods have been proven over time to do what orthodox medicine has not been able to do.
