-Boot Camp: Toughest Workout Yet II!-

High knees were just the beginning...

Okay…almost two weeks ago, I wrote a post titled “ Boot Camp:  Toughest Workout Yet.”

That “title” seems to have been given to each workout ever since!

Last night’s workout definitely takes the cake!

We are in our final week of this four-week round of workouts.  Monday night’s workout, as you might have read, was cancelled due to scary weather.  I hated having to cancel the workout but it was the best thing to do.  We will be making up this workout this coming Monday.

You too can walk like Frankenstein!!

You too can walk like Frankenstein!!

I think yesterday’s workout convinced the ladies that we made up for Monday, though! :)

First off, it’s getting hot.  Our workouts are at 6:00PM, so it’s not too bad…yet.  I will be looking into options for when it gets really bad this summer.  Heat combined with tough workouts isn’t a good thing!

We set up in a shady area near the trees, and I would venture to guess that the group drank five gallons of water altogether throughout the hour!

I came up with a dynamic warm-up sequence that kicked their butts!  See, the goal of my bootcamp workouts isn’t to make people puke, or to beat the crap out of them…

Nothin' like doin' some inchworms with your sister!

My goal is to keep everyone moving, and keep everyone working at the appropriate level.  It’s really been awesome because I have a group of rockstars!  I am able to challenge them more with each workout, and the results are beginning to kick in!  Also, i’m seeing improvements in how they move…for example, with bodyweight squats, most of them have come a long way and are now squatting with better form!  I am a stickler for form, and this has always been my “beef” with bootcamps, because I want everyone to do things safely and effectively!  It hasn’t been difficult with this group, though!

After the dynamic warm-up, I demonstrated my “box drill from hell.”  Each camper had a minute in the box, and I was in charge of which direction they would go!  Major props to Lisa P. for volunteering to go first!  While one was in the box, the others were going through a drill from the dynamic warm-up.

I decided to spare my bootcampers…below, you will find a few pictures of myself demonstrating the drill!

Box drill from hell...keep moving...

Hustle to the cone...

Hustle to the cone...

Four cones & you won't know which one i'll tell you to hustle to next!

Four cones & you won' t know which one i' ll tell you to hustle to next!

Everyone was spent after doing the drill! We wrapped things up with some partner exercises using the Superband, then cooled it down with active and static stretching.

Kudos to you, campers…y’all made it through what I feel is my most challenging bootcamp workout yet! Y’all are awesome!
