Back to the Grind: So Distracted Edition

Posted Oct 12 2009 10:02pm
After a very productive weekend ( oh hello 300 lbs of particle board ) I am completely distracted this morning and trying to get myself on track! I've gotten a lot done but I've just been all over the place here at work.  I need to get focused and back on track, I'm blaming the cup of coffee that I'm enjoying this morning as I don't drink a lot of coffee anymore!

For breakfast this morning I tried one of the new bars I picked up at Jungle Jims this weekend (when we made our impromptu pilgrimage to IKEA ) and I really liked the flavor but it was kind of chalky.  Also the 20 grams of protein were all from wacky soy sources so I don't know how I feel about that.  I would recommend this though if you wanted a really decadent breakfast bar - it definitely fulfilled my chocolate craving this morning!

I've made a major decision, I think I'm going to stop drinking until after my half-marathon (after tonight's specialty beer tasting at Shallos of course!).  I don't need to be dehydrated (or the calories) and while it will put a cramp in my Hoosier Beer Geek activities, at least I can feel confident that I'm not dehydrating myself.  I'm going to step up my hydration efforts so that my system is better equipped to process all the water and start cleaning up my eating for the next three weeks.

I'm also looking ahead at my next fall race - I'm signed up for the Indianapolis Mini-Marathon in May (it's another half-marathon) and then I'm not sure if I'll go for a full Marathon (maybe Chicago) or just do another Half?  We'll see how these next two races go and take it from there!

How do you stay focused?
