Are Low Carb Diets For You? That is a tough question but if you read this post you will be able to determine whether or not they are right for you.
When you eat a high carbohydrate meal, do you feel tired and sluggish afterwards? For example, if you ate a sandwich, an apple, a granola bar and a glass of juice would you be energetic and feel great 30 minutes later, or would you be tired and sluggish. If you would be tired, then you probably do not have great insulin sensitivity and do not tolerate carbohydrates well.
Have you tried a high fiber, low carbohydrate diet yet? A lot of people have done the low carb thing and felt like crap. Well of you will if you eat dense food and low fiber! If all you ate was meat and cheese without a lot veggies you can't expect to feel good. Low carb diets need to have a lot of fiber to keep it healthy and keep your energy levels up. Now, if you have done a healthy low carb diet, how did you feel? Personally, my energy levels are great and even when low carbing but yours might be different. If your energy levels are high, then you should consider a low carb lifestyle.
Are you overweight right now? If you are, try a low carb diet and see what happens. Don't tell me they are not healthy because they can be, and being fat is never healthy. If you lose a ton of fat on a low carb diet then obviously your body does well in a low carb situation.
Do you like to eat meat, fish, cheese, nuts and vegetables? If you do then great, you can handle a low carb diet! If you are addicted to processed foods then switching could be great for you. If you prefer fruits and grain products, then a low carb diet will be more difficult for you.
