A Strip Set

Posted Nov 29 2008 12:26pm
Looking for something that will really get your blood pumping? Something to get you hot and sweaty? Something intense? Want instant  satisfaction? Maybe even something that you'll still be thinking about for the next few days?

Try A Strip Set!

Before you get the wrong idea (which I am hoping you did) let me explain what is and is not included in a strip set.

What isnotincluded in a strip set:
  • A big roll of singles
  • The champagne room
  • Anyone named Porsche, Diamond, or Bambi
  • R Kelly background music
  • Clear heels
  • A pole
  • Anything that can be pasted to the body

Whatisincluded in a strip set:
  • Advanced strength training technique
  • 3 to 4 sets of an exercise in a row!
  • Taking a muscle group(s) past failure
  • Time efficient training method
  • Any exercise or muscle group you want
  • Stripping, lowering, or dropping the weight being lifted to be able to perform a desired number of repetitions in consecutive sets

An example of a strip set

1.) Using the leg press, select and lift a weight (100 lbs.) that you can only do 12 times.

2.) When you get to 12, rack the weight and immediately strip off some of the weight (now 80 lbs.)  and without resting perform another set - aim for 10 repetitions

3.) Repeat stripping more weight off (now 60 lbs.) when you complete the 10 reps and without resting, now aim for 8 reps

4.) Stop and rest

Final notes:

  • Increase the difficulty by adding another strip, aiming for 6 repetitions at an even lower weight. You can also add an additional set and complete this process twice too.
  • Be careful with this type of training because it is not for beginners and your form will quickly deteriorate as you strip away weight. Primarily because when you exhaust a muscle and continue lifting you will try distribute the weight across your entire body to help you lift the weight.
