could advil pm be a cause of a seizure

Posted by sunshine

i have been taking them to help me sleep because i deal with depression.

i taken only 2 earlier that day so i could take a nap and i woke up from the nap fine.

not feeling any different than normal. later on that night i was still completely fine. i was sitting on my bed and then got up to go to the bathroom. and it was like i got up to quickly and felt dizzy but then it just kept getting worse and i fell and blacked out.

my cousin was in the room and told me after i came to that my right leg was shaking and i was leaning on my left side.right after this i felt nauses. but then after that i was fine just feeling weak. then later i noticed that i had a bruise on the left side of my left knee. when i came to my first statement to my cousin was me asking her what just happened.

i wanted to know if this was an actual seizure and if it was an effect from the advil pm that i had been taking. since then i have stopped taking them completely.

thank you

This is a new one for me--never heard of a NSAID causing a seizure.  I did find some sparse stuff out there that does support seizures as a side effect, however, I personally think it rare.  Bear in mind, I am NOT a M.D.

In my opinion, you need to see one.  Not only for this reason but I feel you should not be taking OTC meds to sleep for Depression.  You didn't say if you were on any psych meds.  Even still, if you are taking OTC meds in order to sleep, your sleep issues need to be addressed regardless.

So, either way, you should speak to your physician.  About the Depression at the very least.  If you're not on meds, get on meds for that and your sleep issues could even be resolved in that manner.  If you are on meds and not sleeping--you need help in that area.

Take care,
