Turkish Get Up Modifications and Youth Sports Safety

Posted Mar 07 2013 6:00am

This week’s Stuff You Should Read comes from Dr. James Andrews and Nick Tumminello.

Inner Circle and Updates

Congrats to Inner Circle members Jenn Pilotti, of Pacific Groove, CA, and Jason Nelson, of Yankton, SD, for winning a copy of my Optimal Shoulder Performance and Functional Stability Training for the Core DVDs.  I hope to offer more contests in the future to thank my Inner Circle members.

My next live Inner Circle webinar will be on Enhancing the Upper and Lower Trapezius Balance, an important topic for postural consideration and muscle imbalances.  I’ll be honest, I’m a new dad, so I’ll schedule this towards the last week or two of March.  I’ll work on a date soon and be sure to send out an update.   Learn more about my Inner Circle here . added a webinar from me!  The webinar reviews “ When is it OK to Start Throwing Again After an Injury? ”  The title pretty much sums it up, but I overview my thoughts on some of the criteria you need to achieve before starting a return to throwing program.

Dr. Andrews on Youth Sports Injuries has a nice article interviewing Dr. James Andrews regarding youth sports safety.  It’s a great read if you have any influence over young athletes.  Also be sure to read my review of Dr. Andrews’ new book Any Given Monday in my article how to prevent youth sports injuries .

Turkish Get Up Modifications for Low Back Pain

Nick Tumminello has a nice video showing some of the modifications he makes for the get up exercise for beginner clients or those with issues such as low back pain.  Always a great video from Nick.
