to get you Thinking on Thursday

Posted Nov 05 2009 10:02pm

Tuesday night I joined some friends for a Trivia Happy Hour – a fundraiser for Breast Cancer that came with mind-stimulating questions, some of which completely stumped us.

These types of questions typically induce one of two emotional extremes….

1) Make you think “Um…. why do I know that?”

2) Make you feel Really dumb.

For instance, “ How many moons does Mars have? ” – Initial thought is “easy…”, then you go to write and think “wait…..is it 2? ….maybe it’s 3? …..dangit!” Well, my friends, it’s 3. There, your Thursday is complete.

Anyway! I’m curious. Do you know some of the ones we didn’t?

And, on another note, what do you know about Nutrition? Sometimes I realize that what I consider “everyday knowledge” (because I have to think about it / say it every day ), is not so at all. Sometimes I find myself rattling off facts and then realize I’ve just completely overloaded somebody with new information. Oops!

No cheating! You’re already on the internet, I know it’s tempting. But, work with me here. Test yourself!

*******

1) Who are the two founders of Google?
(seriously?! No one knew this?! Where have we been…..)

2) What is the one food least likely to cause an allergy?

3) How did Charles Rolls (of Rolls Royce) die?
(it does Not involve a balloon…)

3) How many ounces is considered ONE serving of (most) meat?

5) Who is the world’s most successful postumous celebrity?
(hint: it’s NOT Michael Jackson)

6) In reference to daily intake, what does the acronym U.L. stand for? What does it represent?

7) Who is the only president to serve two nonconsecutive terms?
(we actually answered this, but struggled with it for a while – “Was that his Last name??”)

8 ) What is the most abundant mineral in the body?
(Bonus! What is the *best* source of this mineral?)

9) Which ammendment granted women the right to vote?
(uh, we were Close….)

10) Which fruit is the Best source of vitamin C?

BONUS: Which ingredients make up the “holy trinity” of cooking?

******

Answers will be revealed tomorrow….

In the meantime, feel free to throw a question at me too. I can never know too many random & useless facts!
