The downpour that woke me up yesterday morning had me briefly second-guessing my workout plans. It was a work-from-home day, with a lot on the agenda. In other words, I wasn’t convincing myself that I’d go later any more than the rain was coming to a stop.
Hello gym! It’s been a while.
Since I skipped opted out of my 8 miler this weekend (doing 4 +hills instead), I needed some distance. The plan called for an Easy 5 miles @ 9:46. My mind, and legs, called for an Easy-6 miles. I listen to them much more often…
I still get a kick out of wearing my rain boots, so I grabbed them and threw my running shoes in my bag. Getting on the treadmill with wet feet just never seems like a good idea.

There was nothing extraordinary about this run, but I was so happy with it. My feet may not be capable of reaching that “easy-moderate” pace lately, but that treadmill never fails! I set it on 6.8mph and that was that. No pushing it just yet – just run, enjoy the ‘tunes (Citizen Cope & Maroon 5 today), and avoid exhaustion. Successful on all accounts!
Miles 1 – 4 @ 8:49 min/mile
Heading into the 5th mile I was a little restless. I sped up a little bit; if nothing else this was done in the interest of time. I can only handle that rotating belt for so long! Then by the last mile I was done. I wanted it to be fast and I got the itch to finish those 6 miles under 52 minutes.
Mile 5 @ 8:27 min/mile
Mile 6 @ 7:49 min/mile
******
Total time – 51:30. Ah, tired & mission accomlished!

On another note – you people really deliver!! I am loving your responses on the Tuesday Trials!
